2015 Honda Accord 4-door – An Excellent Choice For A Midsize Sedan
In a segment filled with rivals like the Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion and Nissan Altima, the new 2015 Honda Accord offers sleek styling, a spacious and quality interior, lots of features, and good performance – and of course excellent reliability and high resale value are among its highlights.
This year, Autofocus.ca created a list of Canada’s 30 best-selling vehicles based on June 2014 YTD sales. Without a doubt, Honda’s popular Accord model continues to make the cut, and due to a number of reasons. The Accord is a good-looking vehicle, and more so after the 2013 model received a full redesign. Spacious and comfortable, the Accord continues to offer a pleasant ride quality, and as of the 2014 version, two hybrid variants have joined the club, increasing the lineup to a choice of hybrid and plug-in hybrid models, as well as a coupe and a sedan. In other words, the Accord lineup has something to offer for everyone.
When referring specifically to the sedan model, in this case, a standard 2.4-litre, direct-injection, 4-cylinder engine powers the 2015 Honda Accord, and generates 185 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. Most buyers should be satisfied with this engine, as power is delivered in a smooth manner, but for those seeking more punch, a 3.5-litre V6 is offered on the top EX-L V6 trim. It produces 278 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque. Both models should offer an engaging driving experience, due to precise, responsive steering, engaging handling, and an overall balanced ride.
The LX, Sport and Touring models are paired to a 6-speed manual transmission, and a Continuously Variable Transmission – among the best CVTs – is standard on the EX-L, and available on all models, save for the EX-L V6, which is coupled instead to a 6-speed automatic. Buyers of the Sport trim with the CVT can also opt for steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and all versions of the 2015 Accord sedan include an ECON mode button.
The combined city/highway fuel economy rating for the 2015 Honda Accord sedan equipped with the CVT is 7.8 liters per 100 kilometers, and 8.7 for models equipped with the manual transmission. The top EX-L V6 has a combined rating of 9.1 L/100km, all of which are very good.
In terms of safety, the 2015 Accord offers available forward collision warning, lane departure warning, Honda’s blind spot display, and a multi-angle rearview camera, among others.
As for comfort and convenience features, the list is quite long, and worth browsing online. Some key features include dual-zone automatic climate control with an air-filtration system, HomeLink, a navigation system with voice recognition, and a push button start. Driver’s memory seat position, heated rear seats, and leather-trimmed seating surfaces are also worth considering. Finally, in terms of entertainment, the list is again quite long, with features like a 360-watt audio system with 7-speakers, satellite radio, and a 16 GB hard disk for audio storage among the available elements.
Those that choose the 2015 Honda Accord as their midsize sedan of choice will benefit from a variety of elements from a comfortable and spacious interior that provides ample legroom and shoulder room for front and rear seat passengers, to its smooth 4-cylinder engine or strong V6, an abundance of features, and excellent history of reliability and good value.
