November 26th, 2015 by

The most popular car in Canada for 17 years, the Honda Civic, has gotten a makeover for 2016, and has now finally arrived at Palladino Honda. When you are selling the most popular car in the country, you might want to be careful when the time comes to redesign your prized vehicle.

HONDA KNOWS WHAT THEIR BUYERS NEED

2016 Honda CivicLuckily for buyers, Honda is not one to sit on its laurels and let success simply happen. That means that when it was time to design the brand new generation of the Honda Civic, Honda went back to the drawing board and completely revamped the car’s styling, while also adding new technology and upgrading the current engine, while also adding a turbocharged powertrain to the Civic lineup.

This is the third time Honda has made modifications to the Civic’s exterior in three years, and there is no doubt this is the best and most complete iteration.

For 2016, the 2016 Honda Civic gets a host of improvements that make it more competitive than ever, both in terms of fuel economy and price, as well as when it comes to performance, interior space, comfort or safety.

Starting with the first point. The popular Honda compact sedan now gets the Honda Sensing system optionally, a technology that combines several active safety features such as adaptive cruise control, a blind spot monitoring system, lane change prevention system, auto braking, front collision warning, and a lot more. The Civic has always been recognized for its safety, but the new generation goes even further in that regard.

The Civic Just Keeps Getting Better

Inside, buyers get a redesigned interior and above all, more space. The futuristic style that Honda has accustomed us to is still present, but the car now displays even more refinement with a new instrument panel and available touchscreen center console, as well as better materials and improved craftsmanship.

The lower driving position provides a sportier feel to the Civic when we are on the road.  That said, the sportiness also comes in the form of two new, more-powerful engines. The base engine is a four-cylinder 2.0-liter that replaces the old four-cylinder, 1.8-liter powertrain.

The new engine is more powerful with 158 horsepower, a difference that is noticeable on the road. That said, the big difference is found with the all-new turbocharged 1.5-liter engine, a novelty in the Civic family. Lively and power with abundant low-end torque, the turbo develops 174 horsepower while posting an average fuel consumption rating of 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers.
